About the course
ESMOD offers a three-year Bachelor in Fashion Design and Pattern Making/Draping, drawing on techniques from both vocations in both German and English. The professionalism of the training course is underpinned by active lessons and individual support from the ESMOD lecturers as well as by seminars and lectures given by active specialists in the fashion industry. The school’s more than 170-year tradition, the continuous modernisation of its curriculum, and the worldwide network of ESMOD fashion schools, have given ESMOD Berlin a reputation as one of the leading fashion schools of its kind.
The course curriculum combines practical workshops with the presentation of creative work in front of a specialist committee at the end of each workshop. The course is rigorous: lessons last all day, and students are given individual support by ESMOD staff, as well as by means of presentations and lectures by practising experts in the fashion industry. Successful completion of these workshops and presentations is a requirement of the course, and prepares students for later work as professionals in the fashion industry. ESMOD’s goals are for its students to enjoy successful careers, success in international competitions, as well as to see its alumni’s labels being showcased on international catwalks.
The course covers both fashion design and pattern making/draping; two skills which are fundamental to the fashion industry. ESMOD Berlin puts great emphasis on this twofold education because of the high demands from international competition.
